26 is the new 45.

I know that 26 is a bit early for a midlife crisis, especially since I fully intend to live to the age of 135, but sometimes you just have to wonder...

Today at work they were listening to the Mom station, and when "Wind Beneath My Wings" came on, I started asking myself very important questions...

Mostly "My god... what have I done?" (TO DESERVE THIS??? Bette Midler is among the most severe forms of punishment used in this country in modern times, you know.)

But seriously... how did I get here?

I had a bit of an identity crisis at 23. I had no idea what I was doing or what I wanted from life. I became quite agitated...That, and my Mom LOVES Bette Midler.

I've been thinking about this, and I don't mind the campy, show tunes kind of Bette Midler. Like in "For the Boys". That stuff is okay. But any of those songs that were supposed to a) be inspirational and b) make you cry, I hate! Hate, I say! I end up hearing a LOT of "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "From a Distance" due to where I work. I could do without those. I really could.

I just watched that Seinfeld episode when people think Jerry is gay (not that there's anything wrong with that, as he says). Not realizing that she's adding fuel to the fire, Elaine buys him the collected works of Bette Middler for his birthday. I love the idea of Jerry listening to Bette Middler.

OH! Do you remember the Seinfeld episode where Bette Midler is playing in the charity softball game? Kramer ends up running all over the city to get her the right flavour of italian ice... so funny.
